Pop-outs aren’t supported for channel conversations. Now, the desktop client can pop-out window for personal (1×1) and group chats and (soon) meetings.

Information from your computer is combined with other CEIP data to help Microsoft solve problems and improve the products and features that customers use most often.
If you choose to participate, your computer or device will automatically send information to Microsoft about how you use Skype for Business. If your organization has enabled the feature, you can choose to participate in the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP). Select options to help us improve Skype for Business To display shortcut call controls if your active Skype for Business meeting is moved to the background, select Show call controls when Skype for Business is in the background. If you want Skype for Business to remember which conversations are in the tabbed display whenever you sign out and automatically redisplay those conversations the next time you sign in, select Reopen my conversations when I sign in. Your Conversation window selections determine whether Skype for Business will preserve your conversation display between sessions and what happens when Skype for Business is moved to the background during an active conversation.
